This poor little hippocampus really seems to be having some issues. She actualy came about by accident. I was playing with my pastels in my drawing book and for some strange reason I had been on a horse kick (about 98% of my drawings coming out as equines). After doing her mane I stepped back a little and it really looks to me like she was slowly drowning and didn't really care. I thought, 'Whoa! This picture actually has potential!' so I decided to finish it. She was originally going to be just a mare (you know, normal female horse with 4 legs) but after some comtemplation (and some frustration with the hind limbs) I decided that she really needed to be a hippocampus. So that's what she is. This was my first ink drawing so I'm really happy with how it came out. She's done entirely in India Ink, my handy dandy g2 pilot pen, and some regular old red pen for the eyes. I actually won a whopping $6 with this at the local county fair! And they dagon put thumbtacks through the corners! Even though I had put a thing that it could be hung by on the back, they still impaled it with thumbtacks! Oh, well. It took first in 13-17 year old Ink&Charcoal category.
