To make the plate for this etching I started of with a rectangle of metal. I placed this metal on to a hotplate and then put a spot of wax on it, which was heated so that I could roll it evenly over the plate. Now I drew a design of a dragon into the wax so that the metal was exposed, being careful not to touch the wax with my fingers (not careful enough obviously coz there are some finger and thumb prints on there) Then I dropped it into some acid for several minutes. The acid ate away at the exposed metal. I then drew some more into the wax and then yet again dropped it into the acid. The metal that was exposed to the acid for the longest became nice thick lines, where as the newer ones were quite thin and not as deep. After repeating this process several times, I cleaned off the wax and covered the plate in ink, to then wipe it clean, but leaving ink in the etched areas. I then shooved it through the printing press and this is the outcome! There is another version of this etching, made before I added the scales.
