This was made during my senior year in high school and went into my AP Art portfolio. (Yes, my high school had an awesome art department and an even more awesome AP Art teacher who let me put anything I wanted into my portfolio. I got a 4, which is the highest score anyone got. =)) It's of course inspired by the Farseer Trilogy/Tawny Man Trilogy by Robin Hobb (used to be my favorite author). It's 18 x 24 in. and made with chalk pastels - not just gray and black ones! If you look closely, hopefully you can make out the dabs of color I splashed across it. I wanted to capture the magical darkness of those books. I loved Nighteyes! (Yes, those are all the same wolf, just different views, and that is supposed to be Fitz, the main character, down in the corner.) Another bit of information on the history of this piece is that I entered it in the San Mateo County Fair the summer of 2004 and it won third place! I was so ecstatic!
