For some time now, I've been contemplating starting a webcomic based on European folklore and Arthurian mythology. One of the creatures I'm considering for this project is the banshee; a spirit/faerie creature of the British Isles. In this particular mythology, a banshee is a human ghost that has lingered in the Otherworld, transforming it into an entirely different creature. Banshees sing a lament at the death of great figures, or may sing as an omen of death to come. When a banshee is confronted, it transforms from a beautiful ghostly woman into a far more terrifying form... I was mostly trying to capture a different pose and work on facial expression with this piece. I'm quite pleased with how the face turned out, and it was nice to try a somewhat different style.
