This is one of the things to come out of my Tolkein class. After a couple of days reading translations of Anglo-Saxon poetry about the sea and this started coming together in the back of my notes. It was inspired by lines calling the sea the whale-road and the swan-road, stories about Niamh the golden-haired, and that sceen in Master and Comander after one of the duels with the Acheron where the sailors repair the figurehead. Her facial features were always sort of indistinct, I left them that way on purpose, but they didn't come out to well in the scan. So, if you can't see them, just imagine that she has blue eyes and red lips, OK?
