I started this piece about three years ago, right after I finished "My Little Green Friend" . I had the whole thing inked out and was starting to paint everything when I totally messed up on the water. It was just too large to fill in and have it look decent. It was blotchy and I remember screaming and throwing my canvas and vowing to never use watercolors again.Obviously, I've used watercolors since then (on a much much smaller scale, which helped me to learn new techniques and practice) - and recently I pulled this one out and went, "Eh? Why not give it another go?" I figured that even if I messed it up, it wouldn't matter because I was just letting it collect dust in my portfolio. The scan doesn't do it justice. It's 11 inches by 15 inches, so it's been done in two parts and then fused in Photoshop. I can't get the vibrancy of the colors without the whole thing looking incredibly over exposed and luminescent. Ah well.
