A highly original title I know! I firmly believe that the Disneyfication of the fairy tale has lead to the portrayal of characters such as Cinderella being continuously used to represent the materilisation of the West today. All too often do we see her in her beautiful blue ballgown relishing in royal company. So rarely do we see Cinderella presented in her original state. This picture presents a scene in which she has just had her mother's dress damaged by her stepsisters. (A very 'Disney' scene I know) I like the emotion in that really touches upon some of the central motifs of the Cinderella story; neglect, sibling rivalry and physical abuse. I am particularly fond of the mice, the beads, and the crack in the wall. :)
