Quite a funny story to this picture (although I don't blame you if you don't laugh out loud). I started drawing the demon in the pose you see him (wasn't quite sure what he was gonna be holding in his hands when I began with the inking) and I mucked up on of the shadows, so instead of throwing it in the bin I decided that he was gonna be holding a ball of darkness. As you should be able to see (even though I'm not great at shading), the shadows indicate that the light source is below the demon or, in this case, the shadow source is the thing he's holding. Hope I don't sound too confusing. I just added the faun with the pan-flute because I felt something was missing. Again, picture taken with my awesome (I wish) digicam - I really need to get a scanner, a lot of the crispness and sharpness of the original ink-drawing are lost, even though I tweaked it a bit in PhotoShop.
