Pumpking Hugging

Sci fi/Fantasy image by

In the darkness of the pumpkin patch   Outside the cemetery gates   The moonlight danced with the shadows   For it was getting late     When out burst a fairy   From the leaves on the ground   It seemed she was excited   For she exclaimed what she found     “It’s Halloween! It’s Halloween!”   She fervently cried.   “It’s Halloween! It’s Halloween!   There’s no need to hide!”     For everyone knows   At this time of the year   The pumpkins become restless   Shake their old confines clear     The fairy shone quite prettily   As she flew above their heads   She hovered very close   And rapped them out of bed     She waited and waited   In the dead flower bed   She picked apart petals   Such a nice one to the dead!     When all so suddenly   A voice behind her shouted,   “Hey, my wife left those!   Even if they’re dead and rotted!”     The souls of the dead   Had come to her home   Inside of the pumpkins,   They were free to roam     They danced all night   And laughed ‘till the morn’   But their time was now up,   To let go of this form     The fairy waved good-bye   And said farewells to her friends   Next year she’d see them again   Coming out of their lifelong beds.   Elfwood wouldn't allow me to publish the full version of this which included this poem on both sides, so if you'd like to see if the full version, which I think looks a bit better, take a look at my Deviant Art account. That'll lead yah right to it. :) I had fun with this. There's some things I could fix, but you know what? I'm right happy with this. Colouring over my sketchy lines gives a this piece a nice look to me. I love colouring over roughness. :D enjoy, and happy Halloween! haha poem and image © Gus Kosmopoulos 2006.
