The Transformation

I wrote this poem to go with it: The pain is coming back to me Did it have to come so soon? Every month it's always the same On the night of the full moon I keel over from the force Why does it always feel so strange? All I can do is watch and wait As my body starts to change My eyes are always the first to go Then go my face and ears My features slowly melt away You cannot see my tears All my memories are washed away Of friends and those I loved With its departure comes a new mind That calls out to me for blood Any of those who pass my way Never live to tell the tale I've killed everyone closest to me I've murdered my own son as well Yet even in my maddness I can see through the monster's eyes My tears fall as I eat the flesh Of all those that have died Even in my nightmares The beast's inside of me I cannot escape what I truely am The monster is always set free But what scares me more than anything Even more than the carnage I unfurl Is the knowledge that as I go on as a beast I am all alone in the world
