This is Odette from ‘Swan Lake’, the ballet. In case you don’t know the story, she’s been cursed by a sorcerer to take the shape of a swan during the day, but can return to her human form in moonlight. The curse can only be broken by true love. There’s a lot more to it than that, but basically her lover falls under a spell and he ends up betraying her. This painting shows Odette looking through a window, at the moment she realises the betrayal. The feathers on her forehead and hair are to suggest her swan form, and the black line is supposed to be a stylised swan. The blue light is for night time. To tell the truth I got tired of this, I really ought to go back and sort out a few details. Never mind. It’s acrylic, and a white feather. Comments/criticisms appreciated!
