This is a remake of an earlier piece--a collaboration with another artist--I came up with the idea, did the ink work and she did the coloring. I decided to redo the linework, refining the details, and doing my own coloring. Lady Owl is the result. She is a woodland enchantress who cares for and trains the fierce owls that the Mages ride into battle against the Dark Druids of Feldspar. On her fingers is perched a chubby baby owl--maybe who got lost among the towering hollyhokes while his parents are in training. The enchantress has magically fashioned a headdress with the likeness of an owl--from feathers discarded by the older owls--interspersed with various precious metals; two magnificent jewels in a rich shade of carnelian form the eyes. I was quite pleased with the colors of this one--sort of reminds me of a medieval tapestry. Done on thick acid-free watercolor paper in ink, watercolors and acrylic.
