I drew this for art class. The idea came from Loreena Mckennitt's song Bonny Swans. The sketch for this was quick and simple so I figured I might as well ink it in - not usually how I ink things in but I still like how it turned out. The song's story begins wit three princesses walking along a bank. The eldest sister out of jealousy of her younger sister's lover pushes her into the water to drown. The youngest sister pleads her sister to help her out but the eldest refuses and leaves her to her fate. She ends up drowning and her body floats away to a Miller's dam where she is pulled from the water and left to dry. A harper happens by and he takes her body and fashions it into a harp. The harp becomes enchanted and plays by itself so the harper takes it to the royal court to have it play and the harp Says: "And there does sit my father the King with a hey ho and a bonny o And yonder sits my mother the Queen the swans swim so bonny o And there does sit my brother Hugh with a hey ho and a bonny o And by him William, sweet and true the swans swim so bonny o And there does sit my false sister, Anne with a hey ho and a bonny o Who drowned me for the sake of a man the swans swim so bonny o"
