There were seven Spanish Angels,
At the alter of the Sun.
They were prayin' for the lovers,
In the valley of the gun. -Willie Nelson - verse from 'Seven Spanish Angels'Complete lyrics to this heartbreaking song can be found at http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/nelson-willie/seven-spanish-angels-2504.html I haven't been able to get this song out of my head, and was inspired to try my first real pencil drawing without referring to a model. I still need a lot of practice, but the results were better than I expected. I didn't quite know how to get that 'ethereal' feel for the angels. I didn't want them to look like humans with wings, but just a spirit form. Unfortunately, I think they just look unfinished. Any tips on how to achieve that ethereal look without just eliminating the details?
