Marseil again when he's older. This was a bit of a concept drawing becasue so many elements in it can symbolise alot of things from his life. It is not a set event in the story but more like the entire story in one picture. I like to think of it as Mars when he is evil and has been hiding away in the darkness, but the morning light shows him for what he really is; old, sad and tired. His species is naturally nocturnal and have black hair, but if they get too much sun their hair is bleached white, that's why only the newest growth is still black. In this picture, the light shines and turns his hair white, it also helps to give the old/tired and even 'frail' look, I want him to be pitied rather than hated. The messy hair has good contrast to the combed and slicked back hair on the 'evil' side. I like to think of the morning light as something good, showing just what Mars could have been had circumstances been different. His expression was meant to show his distaste for the outside world; almost golum-like. One side wants to keep fighting, the other side just wants to give up. Both eyes are crying.
