Kristie Baker

I have always loved creating worlds of my own and then filling them up with interesting things, people, ideas. I love writing, singing, and devouring books. I am thirty-something, and have an adoring husband who thinks I walk on water, and two wonderful children who make me want to dive into water sometimes.(Calgon, take me away!) I work on crafts at home and used to draw, but have given up showing it to people after seeing how terrible my visions come out on paper. I love sagas, probably because I read so darn fast, and have been writing two different ones. One for almost seventeen years. The other only for ten. Now I evenhave more ideas for more sagasand all types of books, notjust fantasy anymore. I love staying up until three in the morning because that is when my mind works the best. More fantasy is alive at night than in the daytime I think. My main goal is to get published before my bday in2008. not too far away actually. I have done Nanowrimo for four years now and only managed winning twice.  I have new respect for those people who win year after year.  Also, having a chronic pain disease, my writing doesn't happen as fast as it used to which is fairly frustrating, but I keep on, knowing there is a lot to say still that I need to get out onto paper, or should I say ,screen??  I like I love writing, I join with fellow writers every November to do and have won a couple of times! I love singing, scrapbooking, designing lots of different things, reading, gardening, traveling and art...of course...*smirk* Favourite movies Krull, LOTR(extended versions)all of them, Harry Potter ones(my kids love em too)Star Wars, Alien movies, Chronicles of Riddick, Stigmata, Pirates of the Carribean, Underworld(both), The Matrix, ...too many to count... The Dresden files was great, Blood Ties is awesome, Charmed was good while it lasted, The show with the brothers who hunt ghosts and demons down...grr can't remember the name, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, ummm can't think of any more right now. Favourite books Tough one...there are so many. Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman, Anything by Barbara Hambly, Shannara books by Terry Brooks, Eddings helped me realize my love of fantasy, Tolkien, Robert Jordan for the first six books of his endless saga...after that it was too convoluted, Doyle and Donaldson series starting with The Price of The Stars, Orson Scott Card's Ender's game series also The Worthing Saga and Songmaster, I am sure there are more, but my brain is not giving them up at this hour of the night. Favourite music I have such a random and eclectic taste for music, that my favorites run the gambit...Here are a few: Breaking Benjamin, Evanescence, James Blunt, GreenDay, Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, Enya, Blake Shelton, Garth Brooks, Alison Krauss, Sarah Brightman, The Beatles, JoDee Messina, Lonestar, Eric Clapton, Toby Keith, Ani Difranco, Fleetwood Mac, Nickelback, Pat Benetar, Queen, Rockapella, Sarah McLachlan, Simon and Garfunkel, The GooGoo Dolls, Creed, Bush, UB40, Pachelbel, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Handel, Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Purcell, Mouret, Vienna Boys Choir, Yanni, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Alanis Morisette, Avril Lavigne, Don Mclean, Edie Brickell, Gin Blossoms, Good Charlotte and Jewel.

Poem Describing Epic Flight from The Demons Of Hell

The Solace of Dreams of Unreality

Sort of a dark introduction of my work. I usually write in a more fantasy genre, rather than modern fantasy, but this is what came out that night, at two in the morning.

A Brother's Need:Introduction

War befalls the underground dwelling of the Dyieryen. The invaders come from within. Help comes from an unlikely source; the trade-talking surface dwellers.
