One of the most spectacular creatures to have lived during the ice age was Elasmotherium. A giant cousin of the modern Rhino they sported a single massive horn that could be up to six feet long. That is a horn as long as they were tall! They were around 20 feet long and it would be easy to guess, just as bad tempered as their modern kin. It is thought that Elasmotherium may have given rise to several stories about unicorn like animals, such as the Karkadann, perhaps the unicorn itself. This picture depicts a young female. Who, dispite lacking the size and stature of her elders, more than makes up for it in attitude.
