The Flower Sprite is a creature of the Goblin kingdom. They hang out amongst flowers, with their mouths open waiting for an insect to land. They have a number of glands in their mouths that emit a scent similar to pollen to attrack insects and multiple proboscis they uses to consume the insect. You can see more about the Flower Sprite in my upcoming book 'Fleming's Field Guide to North America Goblins.' This image, among others, can be seen in my newly released 2010 calendar on lulu.com. As with my other Goblins this little critter was created in Photoshop using a technique I pioneered, which will be the topic of one of my upcoming Photoshop books. I wanted to create a new technique for quickly rendering realistic fantasy characters and I'm pleased to say it works very well.IT'S PAINTED!!! I get a lot of people thinking this piece is photomanipulation but it is actually painted. The background is a photo but the flowers in the foreground are all painted.
