Long ago, a certain species of monkeys in Ela'k-forest began using the caves of Vurakesen Mountains as shelter from predators and the elements. There they rested over the day and went out at night to forage for fruit and insects. As time passed, the monkeys began moving further into the mountains, eating cave insects and other small animals until they left the surface altogether. They learned to cling to the ceilings and jump on unsuspecting prey; the fur dissapeared, the claws strengthened, thin membrance formed between the limbs and the mouth moved to the belly. When the Jaarels, cousins of the Utels, began living in the caves they had no idea those 1.5 m long predators were descented from monkeys and called them 'Dugrab', or 'hanging monsters'. The worst nightmare of any Jaarel is being ambushed and mauled by these wicked creatures.
