The Oldargs (Icelandic, singular: Oldargi; plural: Oldargar) are a now extinct race in my Bronze age fantasy world of Dragonía. Their civilization was based around the volcano Æjat, an island of fertile land deep in the dry heartland of the Dragonían continent. Since magic becomes weaker as one travels further inland in Dragonía, the Oldargs developed a unique way to bring magic to them. Using a kind of metal found only around the volcano, they constructed a network of cables, called Kújet, which drew and amplified what little magic could be found in the area. The Oldargs used this system mostly to keep their hatcheries warm, to cook food and, for the wealthiest, to communicate across great distances. For much of their history the Oldargs were isolated and unaware of other civilizations until the Moerkels, a humanoid race from the plains to the northwest, discovered them and turned the land into a colony called Oldargaron. For three years the Oldargs secretly tuned their Kújet-network to be used as a weapon against their new masters, but when it was turned on the magical energies overloaded the system, leaving a huge black crater where Oldargaron once stood...and created a Dragon that would plague upon the world for centuries. The Dragon dissapeared eventually, but for how long? Made in Paint.NET and MS Paint.
