Basilisk hatchling, done as a commission for one Mark Neeley. I was working off a written description and a very rough sketch and we were both rather pleased with the results! First I drew and inked the picture, then transferred it onto watercolour paper (using the window as a lightbox), then I added a watercolour 'wash' with my staedtler aquarell pencils. After that was dry I increased the shading and added in more detailing including the multutide of scales. Not bad for only $15, eh? Mark stipulated that he'd like the eye to look entrancing and mysterious. So I tried! Ironically, his basilisk design was not unlike my own, which I thought was most excellant indeed.
