A mythologic personage of my country, María Lionza is a native queen pagan goddess who rides on a female tapir (also known as Danta); she is a mother-mole deity and her domains are the sacred mountains of Sorte and Quivayo, in the state of Yaracuy, Venezuela. When she goes on to Nirgua or Chivacoa forests, her ride has petroglyphic marks in her legs. The tapir have invulnerability power against all type of weapons and other attacks, including christian prayers, and also has the power to 'petrify' bad people, like misers, thieves and killers.
