NOTE: you may need to adjust the contrast on your computer. i dunno but this looks real good on my desktop and looks like crap from my laptop, on my desktop the dark blue patch up job in the corner done on my scanner program is not visable, from my laptop it is, and the image does not have that deep dark feel i have with the original, which is really dissapointing.
this image was long in the making. i started with a concept, i wanted to have two lovers comforting each other in a less than happy setting.
the merfolk and the sea sprites are both aquatic humanoids but that does not mean they get along. but there was a young merboy and seasprite girl who befriended eachother early on. the two races barely got along enough to turn a blind eye to their friendship and let them be. but as the two grew in age so did their feelings for one another. when it became obvious to the members of both aquatic races that these two were in fact lovers the sea was filled with outrage. not wanting to be separated the two fled to a forbidden place, a place that not a single seafolk had dared venture to within in the last ten centuries. here they sat upon the sea worn ruins of a wall and remained there even when hightide left them dry. they are unshure of what to do next, but at least here, for now they are safe, and if needed then here is where they will stay, sacrificing a life in the beauty of the open sea in exhcnage for a life together. so here they remain in the darkness, where, only in the filtered rays of light from the land above, are the ruins of the sea cavern city revealed around them.
