This is my illustration of an under-appreciated character appearing in the first book of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Tom Bombadil is the Master of the Woods, a colorful character, at home in Nature, and always dancing, speaking in rhyme. His wife, Goldberry, is the daughter of the Riverwoman of the Withywindle. He frees Pippin from Old Man Willow and saves the hobbits from the barrow-wights. This piece is chalk pastel on ingres paper.
