Batik Red Oni

My first attempt at batik style. I was able to do this all in one night, all I need to do now is wash out the rest of the wax that I couldn't iron out. I used 100% cotton, paraffin and bee's wax, and RIT dye. This is a tenugui, a type of Japanese towel that I use in kendo ("Way of the Sword" a Japanese martial art) to wrap my head before I put on my men (mask/helmet for kendo). An oni is a Japanese demon of sorts who usually carry clubs and wear tiger skin loin cloths. The color of the oni is usually either red or green, I forgot the exact meaning of the colors, but green oni represent those who bring sickness I think and red ones are possibly health, or some good meaning. There are oni that protect temples and shrines.
