you can tell, by looking at my other pic, 'Dragon Lady'... that this came before it.
It's a strange tale, really... about 3 years ago (yes, this pic is that old! how shameful) I wanted to start drawing faces up close.. as practice.. so I started on this little girl here. Then i got the bright idea that she should have a light source coming from under her, instead of above her... But what to draw that would actually fit on the page, so you could see the light source..?
A tiny dragon making a puff of fire!!! The perfect solution!
So.. I went with the idea.. and semi finished it. but was never really satisfied with it..
Part of that hinged on the fact that i hadnt planned it out before hand, and drew each element as it came to me. But the biggest reason is that i just hadnt developed enough to draw it well.
and here it stands, a testamony of how much a person's ability can morph through the years.
P.S. heres a tip for those of you who also get awful results proportionally. Hold your picture up to a mirror and study which sides look more uneven. Mirrors are almost the best filter for bad proportions that you can get! (also, if you're drawing with the computer, it;'s even simpler, you just switch it around horizontally for an instant mirror effect)
