Aldariinuen gazed helplessly through the ensorcelled bars of the steel cage at the crouched body of his lover Lathureen, now possessed by a demonchild. The Council, hooded and cloaked, watched silently as the young elf made his appeal to the demonchild to leave Lathureen's body of its own accord. If his treaty was ineffective, Lathureen's body would surely die in the exorcism process, if in truth her soul was not dead already. Her once-bright auburn hair and copper-toned skin were now bleached to unnatural shades as the demonchild drained Lathureen's body of its life-force. Even her eyes, once alert and vividly green, were now bottomless pits of darkness. Desperately Aldariinuen called to her, but there came no reply. The demonchild was silent and motionless.
