The Paladin on horseback riding into battle. The cape has been cast aside because it would be too cumbersome in a fight. The lance features a banner that helps the knights and other soldier recognize each other on the battlefield. If the lance breaks or is dropped, then that long sword is drawn. It hangs on a harness attached to the saddle; if the lance falls from his right hand he can immediately draw the sword with his left. The horse is draped with heraldry identifying the knight and providing spiritual protection. A column of these guys thundering across a battefield, with an army massed behind them, would be an awesome sight.
