It's my first gilded artwork. The design is made by myself, the 'achaemenid' look is obtained by training. I think it also looks heraldic due to the tail, turned head and raised hand.
It was my first experience with tempera as well... So the ripples on the background are caused by my efforts to conceal the foundation and extra golds with my semi-opac paints. Anyways... despite those ripples and a scratch on the wing I'm rather happy with it.
materials/mediums: oak wood, prepared foundation from Astra brand, gilding adhesif from the same brand, 23 carat gold leaf, eggtempera and acrylics, shellac finish. Size: 12x12 cm
