In my freshman year (I'm a senior now ^_^) I got my hands on a sweet game called Heavy Gear II. The mech designs in that game are incredible, and the amount of control the pilot is allowed makes the realism in that game incredibly great. Well my computer couldn't handle such a graphics rich game, so until I could get my hands on a Voodoo 3, I played around with controller configurations (I hooked up two joysticks, one left-handed one and one right-handed one, a throttle box, rudder pedals, and I altered the keyboard commands.) and actually got the control style exactly like those inside a Gundam. While I had this huge amount of time to alter the control style, I also had time to imagine my own Heavy Gear. So, over the time span of one month (all in my Algebra I class), I drew this dude. This guy was before I seriously started drawing so the pencil shading is undoubtedly of, somewhat, low quality.
Now that I've been more into mecha games, three years after I drew this, I actually realized that the sweet mech designs of Heavy Gear are indeed that of Shoji Kawamori, the mech designer for Neon Genesis Evangelion, several Gundam series, and the only game I will play as a hardcore fan: Armored Core (he designed the AC's in AC III and ACSL and I beleive his godliness created the seeds of the beautiful games AC2AA, AC2, ACPP, ya.....whew I'm so obsessed, must do some fan-art...wellexpect to see some AC's up to replace this when my drawing arm heals)
