One of the more 'bizarre' pictures I have done, I don't think that many will like it because it has such an unusual nature to it, one that hints of a darker side of science fiction and fantasy art. It isn't erotic in nature or anything, but it is supposed to convey a sense of solitude, desperation, and control. She is of a race that has been enslaved, a humanoid colony from another planet that has, over millions of years, evolved, and as a result they look different from any human (the anatomy of her is obviously different, in the picture she is starving and emancipated but is still 'strong', she's blue of course, lol, and has almost lost her hair since this race doesn't have a need for it. She lacks a need for clothing because of her thick, resistent skin (which puts her at an advantage to the humans and is one of the reasons that fuels their hatred), and she has a strong will that matches that of her body). someday, she will be free... she looks up at the light in hopeful serenity, as she knows that this is to come. For she is also part of a race adept/good at 'time scrying'.
The goal here was to put as many details on her body as I could, conveying a sense of reality but at the same time, reinforcing the idea of science fiction/fantasy art. I didn't look at anything for reference, and the entire thing took about three hours, mainly because I had to color the entire 'fricking' background and that took a long time. Also, I didn't want to burnish (a technique with colored pencils involving blending) the skin because it had already developed a nice texture, and I didn't want to lose any detail that was already in place. Overall, I'm satisfied, but looking over it later, I wish I had drawn some hair on her head, she'd be much more beautiful and have a more exotic, other-worldly appeal. Oh yes, one more thing- this WAS NOT influenced by 'Zan' from the Farscape TV show. lol
