I painted this as part of my student work on a griffin theme. The lectures didn't like it. It was a nice quick sketch done with acrylics on a dirty old piece of Masonite. It's covered with a thick, shiny coat of varnish but that doesn't show up here. It depicts a scene from one of Piers Anthony's Xanth novels: Mount Parnassus with it's twin peaks- the Tree of Seeds on one, the Tree of Immortality on the other, the temple of the Oracle and I think the griffin is prince Dolph in one of his transformations. The painting is a bit longer than what I scanned, it's actual size about 12inches X7.
