This was inspired by a picture of a similar pose and motif I saw. It started out as just an excercise, but it developed to something more as I went. It's the first time that a drawing felt completely right to me, the first time I lost myself to the details and the lines just flowed out of my pencil. The coloring was an experiment with my newest purchase: Derwent Graphitints, wich I can only warmly recommend. They are wonderful Graphit pencils in subtle shades of colour, and beautifully vivid when used wet.I really like the wings and all those leaves. This piece I'm proud of, for once...But I do hate that head. I left it out in the original sketch, because I just couldn't come up with something that felt right. Yet another one of those 'blank spaces' in my art that I just can't fill in... as if there was a hole in that picture inside my head.I tried several different approaches, until i settled on this one here, but I still don't like it. It doesn't fit.I'll refresh as soon as I manage to add a background. Not going to be anytime soon, though.
