The highest fall

Sci fi/Fantasy image by

The picture actually came first, but I've had the poem in mind for a while, and I realised that they could match together, so here they are:   I had a huge abyss to go across Only a bird could have get over You were my wings and my freedom You were my key for a future   I threw myself, I took flight And I saw the abyss below me Your wings took me to the stars I grazed the clouds with my fingers   Suddenly Fear stroke me, then Terror Your feathers are coming off, see my bones! The clouds are already a long way away Because I am sinking like lead in water   Did I hit the ground? I do not know Everything is dark, there isn't a breath of wind Your feathers are falling on my frozen heart Is it what is called Winter?   My appologies for the bad translation! my poem was first in french which skips the rhymes and a better vocabulary ^^
