And how did Duncan and Squirrel first meet? It happened while Duncan was off to Haven with his mother's cart and donkey to purchase supplies for the tavern. While crossing the White-Rage River, he heard a cry for help. Without hesitation, Duncan grabbed the rope from his cart and hurried down to the riverside. On the other end, he could see a slender figure, clinging for dear life to a fallen log while fighting the heavy current. He threw the rope out to the hapless traveller, hollering for her to hang on. At first, he took her for an elf, what with the pointed ears and slender build. Imagine Duncan's surprise, then, when a soaked and bedraggled kender should come crawling out of the river! Duncan continued on his journey, never thinking any more of it. But little did he know that his act of kindness would come back to haunt him... Pencil on paper, enhanced in Photoshop. I remember from high school art class that the Renaissance painters would make distant objects fuzzy and less detailed to give the illusion of distance. Thus, I used the blur tool to do the same. I'm rather pleased with the way it turned out.
