Grief Shared

Just before dying of the deadly white fever, Dalan's mother reconciled with him, forgiving him for his choice to follow Alturiel, an Angel of Justice, thus abandoning the faith of his fathers, veneration of the druidic power Brandhyr. Though he earned forgiveness from his father, the Grand Druid, as well, the other dwarven druids were adamant--Dalan would be forbidden from attending his own mother's funeral. He would not even be allowed to say good-bye.Overcome by sorrow and grief, Dalan went off by himself. Only Arion, the elvish monk, was there to console him as he mourned his mother alone. This picture shows Arion comforting Dalan, while the funeral goes on in the druidic stone circle in the background. It is a turning point in their friendship, an event that will bind the two even closer. This picture was done with pencil and paper, with some touch-ups rendered in MS Paint. I'm not sure if I like how the shading turned out on Arion. Gaian elves are supposed to be pale-skinned, but I think I may have overdone it. A more thorough job will have to wait 'til I can afford some real imaging software. :)
