2004 - The Fog, the Redhead and the Griffon

This image was inspired by watching the Frank Frazzeta/Ralph Bakshi film 'Fire and Ice.' My boyfriend had never seen the film before and was amazed by the art. When watching it i noticed the mist, trees and of course, the fleshy 'bounce, bounce' of the main female character. Frazetta had a lot more trees in his movie than I put in this image. I get more of the feeling of the 'Dead Marshes' from the Lord of the Rings with the way my painting turned out. And, the female in my image, though a little fleshy is nothing like Frazetta's women. The woman I painted is tall.... I seem to have a tendancy to draw tall women and I'm trying to change that.... I like how Frazetta's women have nice little pot bellies.... And where did the griffon come from...? No clue.... It just simply happened. I was wanting to paint a griffon.
