A short story, with a somewhat atypical protagonist, written when I was very very tired. Which should serve as a warning that proper sleep is essential to one's sanity. Note: the 'nursery rhyme' is actually from a poem by Hughes Mearns (1875-1965) Note 2: the phrase 'raison d'etre' is from the French, and means 'reason for existing' or 'purpose'

Law of the Wild Chapter 03

The Mission

Two men carrying out a most perilous and horrifying mission.

Law of the Wild Chapter 02

That's the problem with being the best - there's always someone gunning for you, aiming to make a name for himself...

Law of the Wild Chapter 01

Mark East is a detective with a serious problem...

Altar Ego

This is something of an experiment, different from my usual type of story. The idea came when I suggested the title for a friends story. She didnt use it, and then this idea came to me...

Law of the Wild Chapter 04

The investigation into Shauna Brin's murder takes some new turns, generating more questions and even one or two answers.

Times Change

This began as a collaborative experiment, where a friend and I were to write alternating chapters in the story. Unfortunately we didn't map out any plot beforehand, and she lost me with a sudden 90-degree turn in Chapter Two that I didn't quite follow. Alas, the road not taken...

Law of the Wild Chapter 05

Taking a break from the murder case, Mark turns his attention to the book he received from Gary Cho. Does it hold any answers, or will it just lead to more questions? A longer chapter this time, with one or two answers to Mark's questions. And I managed to fight off the impulse to leave everyone with another cliffhanger ending. It wasn't easy, believe me... ;) By the way, if you think that Mark gets the 'music' quote wrong, you're correct. He's just not as well-read as you and I are.

Wyvern's Project Three

'Legion' The challenge for WP3 was to write a story from the villain's point of view. An intriguing idea, to say the least, since most people don't think of themselves as villains. At least, I assume they don't. :) Which leads us to our protagonist, Lou. Just a guy doing a job... By the way, I had to rush a little to meet the deadline, so constructive criticism will be appreciated. Thanks. Credits: The song Lou is singing to himself at the end of the story is The Devil Went Down To Georgia, by the Charlie Daniels Band.
