This is a modernized version of the typical japanese dragon legend. They are similar to all asian dragons, called Asian Lungs, but japanese, chinese, and korean differ. The number of toes is important, but I'm not sure if I have it right. Japanese have rounder heads, and their beards are different. They are also a little less lionlike. I have been advised that some people consider a work a "copy" even if it was done by one's own hand, and differs from the "original" which is in a "How to draw" book. The book was written by Jessica (Neondragon) Pfeffer. It is excellent. If you have the book, you will see that mine differs. Even if the difference is slight. The pose, coloration, face, and some of the patterning are slightly different. However, I am one who recognizes and gives credit where credit is due, therefore thanks to Neondragon.
