Mourning by the Lake

An elven priest walking by a lake, mourning her lost love who is dead and never knew the woman loved him. This was inspired by a sad-sounding song by Ronan Hardiman&Michael Flatley in the Lord of the Dance Celtic dance show. The same soundtrack is the source of the most beautiful inspirations I get, I really recommend it to everyone. The song has English words but I hardly listened to them, because this picture started telling its own story. This was also made at first just to see if I still can hold a brush, but then I actually started liking it and it became a real picture, not just a 'practise thing'. 'European traditions' is ticked because every time I think/draw/write/etc. something with elfs I always think of the Finnish elfs (not the 'tonttu' ones who help Santa Claus, but the druid-ish ones that are also called 'väki' in Finnish and are said to live in forests and lakes and protect and rule them) Lately I have started to be more interesteed in my own countries old beliefs and am actually writing a LARP that started from reading a study about Finnish and Russian elfs. I believe you might see some pictures and illustrations about that LARP and the stories and bacrounds of the races etc. some day here too ... :D
