At the Grave of Freelove Ball

(This is a true story) In an old cemetery near my home is a grave of a young woman who died in the early 1700's at about 19 years of age. Her name was Freelove Ball. Unfortunately, 'ball' is sometimes used as a slang word in America for, well, intercourse, and 'freelove' also brings to mind similar thoughts, especially to the hormonal teens who sometimes partied in this old cemetery. (Not that I'm admitting to being one of them!) The idea behind this drawing is that one day the constantly teased and belittled spirit of Freelove will say, 'Enough is enough!' and chisel out a new identity for herself! And probably scare the heck out of whoever is around at the time! {graphite pencil on sketchpaper} Some visitors have asked me how I made the ghostly Freelove Ball. Very simple really: I erased her! I did leave her face, though, because I couldn't get that much detail even with a kneaded eraser!
