Commission. Painter X.One of the recent commissions I had been working on. It's a gift for a friend of the commissioner's portraying the friend's roleplay character, Cam, and his mech. After laying waste to his enemies from within his mechsuit, Cam stalks the field of battle to finish off what remains with his own hands. This was probably the most challenging piece I've worked on because several of the elements were ones I had never done before. The mechsuit in particular. The gun, (oh, boy the gun was frustrating. Whenever I would start shaping the details, somehow the angle would seem to shift from the correct way it was.); the explosions, and such. The world the game was set in is supposed to be like an alternate universe Greece, with magic and technology merged. So the suit is as much, or more, magic than mechanical. I went with using Greek armor for the inspiration for the mech and worked from there. There's also little accent details throughout using Greek style designs. The character of Cam was also a bit different for me... in that he has no hair. lol There's a spider tattoo on the side of his head, that went through many design attempts before I found one I thought worked, incorporating the Greek theme with the simple spider the commissioner suggested. I also used the intense lighting effect I developed in another commission I had been working on.All in all, even with all the challenges the piece presented, I enjoyed working on it. As usual I get so sucked into the details and the objects. Sometimes I almost enjoy painting swords or seatbelt buckles as much as the figures.
