Odin's Runesong

Sci fi/Fantasy image by

I know that I hung, on a wind-rocked tree, nine whole nights, with a spear wounded, and to Odin offered, myself to myself; on that tree, of which no one knows from what root it springs. Bread no one gave me, nor a horn of drink, downward I peered, to runes applied myself, wailing learnt them, then fell down thence. If you would like to read the full poem click here: Odin's Runesong. This sculpture has been my baby for the last 9 months. It's based on the above poem about the god Odin's sacrifice on the world tree Yggdrasil in order to learn the secret of the runes. The full sculpture is about 26 inches tall and Odin would be 12 inches tall if he were standing. It is sculpted from polymer clay, cold porcelain, and wire.
