The dwarves rushed out of their great gate; but there was the dragon waiting for them. None escaped that day.J.R.R. Tolkien -The HobbitIn T.A. 2770 Smaug the Golden, one of the last great fire-drakes of the Middle-Earth attacked the dwarven kingdom of Erebor (Lonely Mountain) and near by human town of Dale sacking them both and claiming Erebor and all the dwarven treasures to his own.As I liked my earlier illustration of Smaug, I wanted to draw him again. As I also wanted to try to do a scene with a bit more than just one or two characters I decided to select the scene where Smaug attacks the Erebor. This scene is descriped with quite few words in the book but I decided to "hold on" with those few sentences which I quoted.
