River Dragon - November 2010Third re-dux of one of the four Chinese river dragons, she is the dragon of the Changjiang (long) river, the longest river in China, known for its rich array of wildlife. Although the smallest of the four dragons, she makes up for this in length, her body fully stretched is as long as five ships. She feeds on deer, fish and plant life. Although she does not harm the Koi carp, as they feed on the algae and parasites that grow between her bumpy scales. The grass like appendages that grow from the top of her head and face are sensors, allowing her to lie in wait for any unsuspecting creature that might stray onto her head thinking that it is a floating log or outcrop of earth. She can also stun her pray using electrical pulses that come from the root-like appendages that grow under her chin. Medium: Biro and watercolour on drawing paperSize: A3
