Still zieht er nun durch die toten HallenDie so voll von Leben warenEine Traene auf der WangeRinnt ihm auf das GrabTranslation:Silently he strides through the dead hallsThat once have been so full of lifeA tear running down his cheekDropping onto the graveThis is the first drawing entirely inspired by the lyrics of a song. "Widars Hallen" ("Widar's Halls") is a truly epic hymn by the german viking metal band "Equilibrium",telling the story of Widar's empire and his great hall, far behind the mountains in the endless forests. As everything in the world, even Widar's empire was destined to fall one day and flames destroyed theholy groves, the great hall lies in ruins.A single giant is left of Widar's empire and strides through the ruins, old and tired. The lines above describe this and I found them to be very powerful, creating detailed images in my head and I just love the atmosphere the band managed to capture in this and other songs.I have drawn the giant "viking-like" since it somehow matched the image in my head. The beaker and the horn in the background symbolize his memory of the life that has once pulsed in the hall.Head in ballpen, everything else with a graphite pen.
