Another creature from my book.  Hippocampus literally means "sea horse" in ancient Greek.  The hippocampus is found in Greek, Phoenician, and Etruscan Mythology.  It is typically depicted as a horse with the tail and scales of a fish.  The hippocampus is said to inhabit both fresh water and salt water and were created by none other than Poseidon to pull his chariot across the sea.
