I painted this for my father (marine scientist). It's a Coelacanth (latimeria chalumnae), the oldest existing species of fish, which was actually considered extinct long ago. It's called a living fossil. As the fins of this fish are nearly legs, the legs of the merfolk girl accompanying it are nearly fins. She is playfully watching over it. (She's not that small - the fish can grow up to 2 metres) Watercolour.
