This would be the first time I picked up a paint brush in 5 years, if you can believe it. I couldn't even do this then, so who says you need to practice to get better? *grin* This was the 'prequel' to the Red Dragon acryllic. This is what is called a 'foliate mask' or 'jack-o`-the-green'. It is said to be a form of a pagan 'god of nature and the hunt' and sculptures of this could be found in the decor of many of the early churches erected during the Christianization of (western) Europe. I have seen similar plaster casts depicting the old Roman and Greek gods Bacchus and Dionysus; the god(s) of the 'vine' (Wine).
