Lady Knight Keladry of Mindelan, from Tamora Pierce's Protector of the Small quartet. Here she is in the refugee camp of "Haven," where she is the commander. Tortall is at war with Scanra and Kel has been sent a vision of a man creating terrible war machines, using death magic to bring the machines to life. Her mission is to destroy this man, and she feels shackled by the duty she owes the people in her care. She was the first girl to train as a knight since King Jonathan decreed that women could once more try for their shields. She first learned the warrior arts in Yaman, where her father was Tortall's ambassador, and her favorite weapon is the glaive (naginata). When I did this piece, however, I had never seen one, so chose to portray her with the traditional longsword instead.
